About the Author

Julie Edmonds grew up in Geelong, Victoria where she currently lives.

I have a Diploma of Teaching (Primary), Bachelor of Education, a Graduate Diploma of Children’s Literature and Reading Recovery training. I spent most of my career as a classroom teacher. Later roles were as a Literacy Support Teacher, both privately and in the Education Department. I retired from the Department of Education and Training, in Victoria, in 2016. I am passionate about teaching Speaking and Listening and Phonological awareness skills, as I believe they are crucial to all learning.

I felt a deep love of nature from early childhood. Weekends and school holidays were spent roaming my grandparents’ dairy farm in the Otway Ranges, Victoria or the beaches and forests along the Great Ocean Road.

These experiences and memories are now inspiring me to write stories.

My first picture book, Sarah Remembers, illustrated by Susan Richards, is self-published by The Tale Trail.

I still love feeling the earth beneath my feet and avoid the footpath whenever I can.

My partner Tony and I love taking road trips through the outback.

At home I’m learning guitar and photography and enjoy the company of our extended families.
